NOMINATED FLYER DESIGNER FOR 2019 bachelor OF FINE ART illustration & ANIMATION gallery SHOW

A project I was nominated to work on a flyer to advertise for the senior show of my graduating class of 2019 Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration and Animation. I was humbled to be selected as the artist to produce the flyer design for the senior show.

The pitch
Through voting, the class came to narrow down a title "KALOPSIA" as the title of the senior show. Using the meaning of the word, my pitch was to illustrate a visual image of what artists may feel nearing their end of the academic journey which is a beautiful achievement with an ugly reality for an artist in the working field.
Gallery Type design
The group also needed a custom typeface design for the gallery and was also chosen to make the design. I borrowed some elements of linear typefaces that are sans-serif since my rough design already incorporated elongated types. Made some adjustments in the tracking and kerning of the individual spacing between letters but all letters were hand drawn and set.
design color variation and composition
Once done with the design foundation, the group asked to see if there can be an alternative design to vary the flyer designs when out in advertising the show. I gave them kind of a muted blue pink variation, an upside down and the right side up. At the end, they voted on selecting one and the right side up version was selected to be printed. Total 1000 was printed and distributed among the group to distribute to their audience.
